The pattern achieves it by sharing parts of object state between multiple objects. In other words, the Flyweight saves RAM by caching the same data used by different objects. WebMy understanding of the flyweight pattern is just that it aims to reduce useless memory usage. For example in this flyweight java example it actually doesn't have a key at all since it uses a singleton to return a flyweight.. While I was learning the pattern earlier this year I wrote a flyweight example which is a bit more similar than the singleton example.
