That flattener puts necessary constraints on distance to achieve the most optimal results so different eyepieces will effect the spacing. Meanwhile, the ACF uses no flattener instead relying on refiguring the corrector and secondary to optimize pinpoint stars.

Webb27 nov. 2024 · I found out that the RCC-I states a spacing of 94.5mm from the M48 threads, and 91.5mm from the stop ring if used. Since I had removed the stop ring and was still using the 91.5mm spacing it was a few mm short. Added a 5mm extension ring to bring it to 95.5 mm. Pretty close. Will get a chance to try it tonight. Finally, and perhaps most important: take your time, do not start this job an hour before lunch, dinner or any other appointment. Mind you that a broken corrector plate cannot be replaced! Good luck!
